Needs and Wants

Aligned to C3.D2.Eco.1 — C3 Framework for Social Studies State Standards.

What this lesson teaches

A need is something we must have to live, like food, water, and a home. A want is something nice to have but not needed.

Worked example

An apple to eat is a need, but a toy robot is a want. When we cannot have everything, we must choose.

Practice questions

  1. Name one thing that is a need.
  2. Name one thing that is a want.
  3. You have money for only one thing. Pick a need over a want and tell why.

Necesidades y deseos
