Representing Data with Matrices

What this lesson teaches
This is a (+) advanced standard. A matrix is a rectangular array of numbers that stores organized data such as game payoffs, costs, or network connections. The position of each entry (its row and column) carries meaning.
Worked example
A store's sales of two items over two days can be written as [[4, 7], [5, 2]], where each row is a day and each column is an item. Item 1's total is the first column: 4 + 5 = 9.
Practice questions
- In a 2×3 matrix, how many rows and how many columns are there?
- Write a matrix for a network where node A connects to B (1) but not C (0), and B connects to C (1).
- From the matrix [[3, 1], [0, 4]], read the entry in row 2, column 1.

Este es un estándar avanzado (+). Una matriz es un arreglo rectangular de números que almacena datos organizados como pagos de un juego, costos o conexiones de una red. La posición de cada entrada (su fila y columna) tiene significado.
Ejemplo: Las ventas de dos artículos de una tienda durante dos días se pueden escribir como [[4, 7], [5, 2]], donde cada fila es un día y cada columna es un artículo. El total del artículo 1 es la primera columna: 4 + 5 = 9.
