Chores and Doing Your Part
Aligned to JS:EI-K — Jump$tart National Standards in K-12 Personal Finance Education & Advance CTE Career Clusters.

What this lesson teaches
A home runs because everyone does a piece of the work. Doing your part without being asked is a real skill, and it is the same skill a boss will pay for later. Finishing what you started counts as much as starting it.
Worked examples
Example 1
Setting the table takes two minutes and means dinner starts on time for everybody.
Example 2
Half-doing a chore makes more work, not less. A bed with the blanket thrown on top still has to be made again.
Example 3
Doing your job before you are reminded is what people mean by 'responsible.' It is the habit an employer notices first.
Practice questions
- Name one chore you can do without help.
- What happens if nobody takes out the trash?
- Do one chore today before anyone asks you to.
