What this lesson teaches
Advanced musicianship means analyzing complex works, studying harmony and form, and placing music in its historical and cultural context. This is the content of AP Music Theory and college study. Understanding why a piece works the way it does sharpens both your listening and your own creating.
Worked example
Analyzing a Bach chorale, you label each chord and notice how the harmony pulls toward home, then compare it to a pop song that uses the same four chords in a loop.
