What this lesson teaches
Authentic materials are real things made for native speakers, like songs, menus, ads, and videos, not just textbook pages. You can understand the main idea and key details by using strategies such as spotting cognates, reading headings, and using context. Working with real content keeps learning interesting.
Worked example
Reading a real Spanish menu, you might see 'pollo' under a heading 'Platos principales' (main dishes) and use the heading plus the cognate to know it is a chicken main course.

Puedes entender la idea principal y los detalles clave usando estrategias como identificar cognados, leer encabezados y usar el contexto.
