What this lesson teaches
Volume formulas: cylinder V = πr^2h, cone V = (1/3)πr^2h, and sphere V = (4/3)πr^3. A cone is exactly one-third of a cylinder that has the same base and height.
Worked example
Find the volume of a cylinder with radius 3 and height 5. V = πr^2h = π(3^2)(5) = π(9)(5) = 45π ≈ 141.4 cubic units.

- Find the volume of a cylinder with radius 2 and height 10 (leave your answer in terms of π).
- Find the volume of a cone with radius 6 and height 9.
