Two Authors, Same Topic

What this lesson teaches
Two authors covering one topic often stress different evidence or read the same facts differently. Compare what each emphasizes to see how presentation shapes the message.
Worked examples
Example 1
On a new park, one writer highlights costs and taxes; another highlights clean air and play space. Same park, different evidence chosen — each shapes readers toward a different opinion.
Example 2
Two authors on the same drought: one interviews farmers, one interviews hydrologists. Both are honest and you get two different droughts.
Example 3
Check the dates. Two writers can disagree simply because one wrote before the thing they disagree about had happened.
Practice questions
- Find two articles on the same topic and note what each one emphasizes.
- Identify one fact both mention but interpret differently.
- Explain how the two authors' choices lead readers to different conclusions.

Dos autores, mismo tema
Dos autores sobre un tema suelen destacar evidencias distintas o leer los mismos hechos de otro modo. Compara qué enfatiza cada uno para ver cómo la presentación moldea el mensaje.
Ejemplo 1: Sobre un parque nuevo, un autor resalta costos e impuestos; otro, aire limpio y espacio para jugar. Mismo parque, distinta evidencia — cada uno inclina al lector distinto.
Ejemplo 2: Dos autores sobre la misma sequía: uno entrevista agricultores, el otro hidrólogos. Los dos son honestos y te dan dos sequías distintas.
Ejemplo 3: Revisa las fechas. Dos autores pueden discrepar simplemente porque uno escribió antes de que pasara aquello sobre lo que discrepan.
