What this lesson teaches
Use pronouns clearly so the reader knows who 'he,' 'she,' or 'they' refers to, and fix vague or shifting pronouns. Greek and Latin roots help you unlock the meaning of academic words.
Worked example
Vague: 'When Mia met Ana, she smiled' — who smiled? Better: 'When Mia met Ana, Mia smiled.' The root 'bio' means life, so 'biology' is the study of life.
Practice questions
- Fix a sentence with an unclear pronoun.
- Define a word using its Greek or Latin root.
- Replace a vague 'it' with a specific noun.
