5-ESS3 Protecting Earth's resources
Aligned to 5-ESS3 — Next Generation Science Standards.
What this lesson teaches
People depend on Earth's resources like clean water, air, and energy, and communities use science to protect them. Small everyday choices, like saving water, recycling, and using less energy, add up to help protect the environment.
Worked example
A town worried about running low on water asks families to take shorter showers and fix leaks. Over a month, those small changes save thousands of gallons, leaving more clean water for everyone and for nature.
Practice questions
- Name one of Earth's resources people work to protect.
- How can recycling help protect the environment?
- Describe one habit your family could change to save water or energy.
