Writing Often, Long & Short

Aligned to W.5.10 — Common Core State Standards for English Language Arts.

What this lesson teaches

Good writers write regularly, sometimes a quick response and sometimes a long project. Practicing many kinds of writing builds skill over time.

Worked example

In one week you jot a quick journal entry, write a paragraph answer in science, and start a multi-day story — different lengths, all useful practice.

Practice questions

  1. Write a quick response to a question in two minutes.
  2. Plan a longer piece you would work on over days.
  3. List two very different writing tasks you do.

Escribir Seguido, Largo y Corto
