Capitals, Commas & Spelling
Aligned to L.5.2 — Common Core State Standards for English Language Arts.
What this lesson teaches
Correct capitalization, punctuation, and spelling make writing easy to read. Watch capital letters, commas, and often-misspelled words as you write.
Worked example
'on friday we visited chicago illinois' should be 'On Friday we visited Chicago, Illinois.' — capitals for names, a comma between city and state.
Practice questions
- Fix the capital letters in a sentence about a place.
- Add commas where a sentence needs them.
- Correct two commonly misspelled words.
