Measurement, Conversion, and Line Plots

Aligned to 4.MD.A.1 — Common Core State Standards for Mathematics.

What this lesson teaches

Units in the same system are related, so you can convert from a larger unit to a smaller one by multiplying. For example, since 1 foot is 12 inches, 3 feet is 3 times 12. You can also display fractional measurements on a line plot.

Worked example

Convert 4 feet to inches. There are 12 inches in a foot, so 4 times 12 equals 48 inches.

Practice questions

  1. How many inches are in 5 feet?
  2. How many minutes are in 3 hours?
  3. Convert 2 hours to seconds.

Ejemplo: Convierte 4 pies a pulgadas.
