Fractions on a Number Line

What this lesson teaches
A fraction is a number that lives on the number line. Split the space from 0 to 1 into equal parts, then count the parts to reach your fraction.
Worked examples
Example 1
To place 3/4, split 0 to 1 into 4 equal parts. Each part is 1/4. Start at 0 and hop 3 parts. You land on 3/4.
Example 2
To place 2/3, split 0 to 1 into 3 equal parts and hop 2 of them. You land between 1/2 and 1.
Example 3
Fractions keep going past 1. Split each whole into fourths and 5/4 sits one hop past the 1.

- On a line split into 4 parts, where is 2/4?
- Which is farther from 0: 1/3 or 2/3?

Fracciones en la Recta Numérica
Una fracción es un número que vive en la recta numérica. Divide el espacio del 0 al 1 en partes iguales y luego cuenta las partes para llegar a tu fracción.
Ejemplo 1: Para ubicar 3/4, divide del 0 al 1 en 4 partes iguales. Cada parte es 1/4. Empieza en 0 y salta 3 partes. Caes en 3/4.
Ejemplo 2: Para ubicar 2/3, divide del 0 al 1 en 3 partes iguales y salta 2 de ellas. Caes entre 1/2 y 1.
