Equal Parts as Fractions

What this lesson teaches
When you split a shape into equal parts, each part is a unit fraction of the whole. The number of equal parts becomes the bottom number of the fraction.
Worked example
Cut a rectangle into 4 equal parts. Each part is the same size, so each part is 1/4 of the whole rectangle.
Practice questions
- Split a circle into 2 equal parts. What fraction is each part?
- A square is cut into 3 equal parts. Name one part as a fraction.
- Draw a rectangle split into 6 equal parts and shade 1/6.

Partes Iguales como Fracciones
Cuando divides una figura en partes iguales, cada parte es una fracción unitaria del entero. El número de partes iguales se vuelve el número de abajo de la fracción.
Ejemplo: Corta un rectángulo en 4 partes iguales. Cada parte es del mismo tamaño, así que cada parte es 1/4 del rectángulo entero.
