Slowing Wind and Water

What this lesson teaches
Wind and water can move soil and change the shape of the land, but we can build things to slow them down.
Worked example
People plant grass or lay down rocks on a hillside so rain does not wash the dirt away.
Practice questions
- Name one thing that can stop wind or water from moving dirt.
- Pour water over a pile of sand, then over sand covered with small rocks, and compare.
- Explain why a wall of plants might protect a garden from wind.
