What this lesson teaches

We can read stories and poems just right for us. A grown-up can help when a word is tricky.

Worked examples

Example 1

A short poem: "The little bee flew by the tree." We read it slowly and enjoy the rhyme of "bee" and "tree."

Example 2

A short poem: 'The round moon rose above the dune.' Listen for the rhyme of 'moon' and 'dune'.

Example 3

Reading it a second time is not wasted. You hear things the second time that you missed the first.

Practice questions

  1. Read a short story with a grown-up.
  2. Point to a word that rhymes with another word.
  3. Tell your favorite part after you read.
