Media Arts: looking at & talking about media
Aligned to NCAS:Re — National Core Arts Standards.
What this lesson teaches
Videos, games, and pictures are all made by people who made choices. When you watch, you can ask who made this and why. You can also tell the difference between things that are real and things that are pretend.
Worked example
While watching a cartoon, point out that real cats cannot talk, so the talking cat is pretend, and someone drew it to make you laugh.
Practice questions
- Who do you think made the show you are watching?
- Is a talking animal in a cartoon real or pretend?
- What is an ad trying to get you to do?
