Being kind and careful with devices and people
Aligned to ISTE — CSTA K-12 Computer Science Standards.
What this lesson teaches
There are real people on the other side of a screen, so we use the same good manners online that we use in person. We say please and thank you, take turns, and choose kind words in messages and video calls. We also treat devices gently so they keep working for everyone.
Worked example
On a video call with Grandma, you wait for your turn to talk, smile, and say thank you, just like sitting next to her. And you hold the tablet with two careful hands so it does not get dropped.
Practice questions
- Name one kind thing to do on a video call.
- Why should we use gentle hands with a tablet?
- How are good manners online like good manners in person?
