What this lesson teaches
A new language is a tool you can use to learn other subjects too. You can count and do math in it, name animals and plants in science, or learn the geography of places where the language is spoken. The language helps you learn, and the subjects help your language grow.
Worked example
While studying the solar system, you could learn the planets in Spanish: 'la Tierra' (Earth), 'Marte' (Mars), and 'el Sol' (the Sun).
Practice questions
- Count to five in another language.
- Name an animal or planet in a language you are learning.
- How can a language help you in science or math class?
