What this lesson teaches
You can be a writer even before you can spell! Draw a picture of your idea, then tell about it out loud, and write down the sounds you hear in the words.
Worked example
Draw your favorite toy. Then say 'I like my red truck.' Write the letters you hear, like 'I lik my rd truk' — that is real writing!
Practice questions
- Draw something you did today and tell about it.
- Write the first sound you hear in the word 'dog.'
- Make a picture and say one sentence about it.
