What this lesson teaches
Correct capitalization, punctuation, and spelling make your writing easy to read. Capitalize names and the start of sentences, use commas and end marks in the right spots, and spell words carefully — checking a dictionary when unsure.
Worked example
The messy line 'on friday we visited austin texas and boston' becomes correct as 'On Friday, we visited Austin, Texas, and Boston.' with capitals and commas in place.
Practice questions
- Write a sentence with two proper names and capitalize them correctly.
- Add the missing commas to: 'I packed apples oranges and grapes.'
- Explain one place you can check if a word is spelled right.
