What this lesson teaches
Learning about a community starts with good questions. A big question makes you curious and think hard. Smaller helper questions guide you to find the answer, one step at a time.
Worked example
A big question like "Why did people first settle in our town?" leads to helper questions such as "Was there a river nearby?" and "What jobs did people do?"
Practice questions
- What is one big question you have about your community?
- Write one smaller question that would help you answer it.
- Where could you look to find the answer to your question?
