What this lesson teaches
People do many different jobs, and most jobs help others. When people work, they earn money to buy the things their family needs. Communities depend on workers — teachers, doctors, farmers, and firefighters all do their part.
Worked example
A farmer grows vegetables and sells them; a grocery clerk stocks them; your family buys them with money your parents earned at their jobs. Each worker depends on the others.
Practice questions
- Name three jobs in your community and what each one does.
- Who would you call if there were a fire? If you were sick?
- What job would you like to do, and who would it help?

Los trabajos y el empleo en mi comunidad
Las personas realizan muchos trabajos diferentes, y la mayoría ayuda a otros. Cuando las personas trabajan, ganan dinero para comprar lo que su familia necesita. Las comunidades dependen de sus trabajadores — los maestros, médicos, agricultores y bomberos todos hacen su parte.
Ejemplo: Un agricultor cultiva verduras y las vende; un empleado del supermercado las acomoda en los estantes; tu familia las compra con el dinero que tus papás ganaron en su trabajo. Cada trabajador depende de los demás.
