What this lesson teaches
We see objects when light bounces off them into our eyes. Sounds are made by things vibrating — shaking back and forth quickly.
Worked examples
Example 1
Plucking a rubber band makes it vibrate, which we hear as a sound. We can only see a book when light shines on it.
Example 2
Tap a drum and you can see the drumhead shaking. Put your hand on it and the shaking — and the sound — stops.
Example 3
A bigger vibration makes a louder sound. Pluck the rubber band harder and the twang is louder, not higher.

Luz y sonido
Vemos los objetos cuando la luz rebota en ellos y llega a nuestros ojos. Los sonidos se producen cuando las cosas vibran — es decir, cuando se sacuden hacia adelante y hacia atrás rápidamente.
Ejemplo 1: Jalar una liga hace que vibre, lo cual escuchamos como un sonido. Solo podemos ver un libro cuando la luz lo ilumina.
Ejemplo 2: Golpea un tambor y puedes ver el parche temblando. Pon tu mano encima y el temblor — y el sonido — se detienen.
Ejemplo 3: Una vibración más grande hace un sonido más fuerte. Jala la liga con más fuerza y el sonido es más fuerte, no más agudo.
